BioMedNewsBreaks – Mydecine Innovations Group (NEO: MYCO) (OTC: MYCOF) (FSE: 0NFA) CEO Discusses Blockbuster Drug Potential on MidasLetter Podcast
Mydecine Innovations (NEO: MYCO) (OTC: MYCOF) (FSE: 0NFA), a biotechnology and digital technology company aiming to transform the treatment of mental health and addiction disorders, was featured in a recent MidasLetter Live podcast. Mydecine’s CEO and Chairman Joshua Bartch joined the program to provide an overview of the company and the science behind its psychedelic compounds. “What we are showing in the efficacy rates that are coming out of that study are over three to five times what’s currently available of Chantix or a nicotine patch with a much safer drug,” Bartch said in discussing clinical trials for smoking cessation using psilocybin. “It’s a much more effective drug. When you look at the total addressable market it’s projected to be $64.5 billion by 2026, so that report gave us a 0.5% of the overall addressable market… So given the upside potential of one of our drugs being successful, you’re looking at a multiple dollar stock at a bare minimum. These are blockbuster drug potentials.”

Mental Health Conditions, IBS Could Have Shared Origins
Irritable bowel syndrome (“IBS”) is a condition that affects one in every ten individuals globally. Its symptoms include bowel dysfunction and bloating and abdominal pain among others, which can significantly impact an individual’s life. Before a diagnosis can be made, clinicians usually consider the possibility of other ailments, including bowel cancer and Crohn’s disease. IBS is common in individuals who are prone to anxiety. While its causes aren’t well understood, a group of researchers recently discovered some genes that offer leads into its origin.
The group was made up of more than 40 institutions, with the research being coordinated by researchers in Spain and the United Kingdom. The researchers examined genetic data from nearly 12,900 individuals from the Bellygenes initiative and more than 40,000 individuals suffering from irritable bowel syndrome from the Biobank in the United Kingdom. They then compared this data…

The report reads, “We are reiterating our Buy rating and C$3/share 12-month price target on Mydecine following the release of 3Q21 results. . . The highlight of the quarter was the announcement that Mydecine plans to continue clinical research that was initiated a number of years ago at Johns Hopkins University, under the leadership of Dr. Matthew Johnson, a world-renowned psychedelic drug researcher. Study Finds Neuroinflammation Protein Decreases Rate of Survival in Male Patients with Glioblastoma
Glioblastoma is a common and aggressive type of cancer that occurs in the spinal cord or brain. This cancer is almost twice as likely to affect males and is mostly found in adults. About 12,000 individuals are diagnosed with this cancer in the United States annually. Patients diagnosed with this cancer usually experience many symptoms, including changes in personality, memory loss, persistent headaches and seizures. Now new research has found an association between glioblastoma patient survival outcomes and translocator protein 18 kDa, which is a neuro-inflammation biomarker.
This discovery could help the medical and scientific community better understand why glioblastoma is more fatal in men than in women. The research, which was reported in the September issue of the “Cancers” journal, was conducted by researchers from the National Cancer Institute, the Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute and the Robert Stempel College of Public Health & Social Work, at the Florida…

How Medical Research Can Leverage AI Without Risking Personal Data
Artificial intelligence (“AI”) can be used to accelerate research and advance healthcare. It can also play a crucial role in conducting clinical trials and drug research. Using artificial intelligence to pool medical data helps save lives because AI surpasses humans in diagnosing conditions and choosing treatments. Tryp Therapeutics (CSE: TRYP) (OTCQB: TRYPF), a pharmaceutical company focused on developing psilocybin-based compounds for diseases with unmet medical needs, today announced that it has submitted an Investigational New Drug (“IND”) application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) to evaluate its clinical candidate, TRP-8802, in a phase 2a clinical trial. For their study, the researchers carried out an analysis of more than 3,100 brain tumors that originated from cancers in the colon, kidney, breast, lung or skin of more than 900 patients who received treatment at the Keck Medical Center; the patients…

BioMedNewsBreaks – AnPac Bio-Medical Science Co. Ltd. (NASDAQ: ANPC) Leveraging CDA Technology for Critical Early Cancer Detection
AnPac Bio (NASDAQ: ANPC), a biotechnology company with operations in China and the United States, since 2015 has commercially proven out its concepts through the development and sale of its cancer detection technology, Cancer Differentiation Analysis (“CDA”) for early detection of pre-cancerous disease and cancer. “The company has published numerous reports of clinical study results at major conferences, including ACSO conferences, and has been awarded over 100 patents globally. AnPac Bio is now able to make the claim that it is saving lives on a daily basis by detecting 26 different types of cancer very early, through the tens of thousands of commercial tests that are being performed annually,” reads a recent article. “AnPac Bio’s cancer detection CDA technology is a fully automated walk-away solution, requiring a single tube of blood that is directly loaded on to the novel and proprietary CDA device, which measures the biophysical parameters in the blood through highly sensitive bio-sensors. CDA is high-throughput and allows up to 40 samples to be loaded onto the platform deck. Each sample only requires seven minutes to measure the signals. The multi-parametric raw data is processed through a proprietary machine-learning AI-based algorithm to generate a final CDA cancer risk score. The company is vertically integrated and fully autonomous. This includes AnPac Bio’s CDA machine as well as commercial testing through laboratories in the United States and China. CDA technology can be combined with other tests, such as protein-based biomarkers, to provide more comprehensive information and data.”

Vivos Therapeutics (NASDAQ: VVOS), a medical technology company focused on developing and commercializing innovative treatments for patients suffering from mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea (“OSA”) and snoring, has announced the commencement of the 3rd-annual Breathing Wellness Conference presented by The Vivos Institute. The event is taking place at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada, from Oct. 20-23, 2021, where dentists and medical doctors from around the world will hear from the industry’s top experts on OSA about its impact on chronic conditions such as heart disease, chronic fatigue and dementia. Attendees will also have the opportunity learn how innovations in the science of dentofacial sleep medicine are forever transforming the future of dentistry. “Dentists are essential to solving the sleep and breathing epidemic as they serve as the front line to proper screening, education and, increasingly, treatment. Our annual Breathing Wellness Conference gives us a chance to educate these individuals on the dangers of OSA and share more about the latest innovations in treatment as we seek to improve the oral and overall health of patients,” said Vivos CEO Kirk Huntsman. “Rather than patch OSA with temporary, invasive solutions like CPAP machines and surgery, dentists are leading the change and focusing on potentially life-changing treatments that address the root cause of OSA.”

BioMedNewsBreaks – Mind Cure Health Inc. (CSE: MCUR) (OTCQX: MCURF) Focusing on What It Does Best
Mind Cure Health (CSE: MCUR) (OTCQX: MCURF), a leader in advanced proprietary technology and research for psychedelics, recently released its financial results for the twelve months ended May 31, reporting on its first full year of operations since incorporation in March 2020. “The company initially began the year developing a nootropic line of functional mushrooms and supplements, in line with the rising consumer use of cognitive enhancement nootropics to improve brain function. With the company’s renewed focus on its digital technology and research development activities, MINDCURE announced in August that it had discontinued the development of its nootropics line of products,” reads a recent article. According to Kelsey Ramsden, the company’s president and CEO, the strategy and infrastructure the company has put in place over the past year has positioned it well to continue the development and release of its digital therapeutics platform, iSTRYM, and to continue its research for psychedelics. Ramsden continued, “As our organization has grown and our bi-divisional technology and drug research strategy have been refined, we need to focus entirely on what we do best — creating advanced and proprietary technology for and drug research in psychedelics.”

Second-, Third-Degree Relatives of Colon Cancer Patients at Risk of Developing the Ailment
A new study has discovered that having relatives who have colorectal cancer heightens an individual’s risk of developing this ailment. This study, which was conducted by researchers from the University of Utah and the University of Buffalo, was published in the “Cancer Epidemiology” journal.
Physicians recommend that first-degree relatives of individuals diagnosed with early onset colorectal cancer begin screening before they reach 50 years of age. This is mainly because cases of early onset colorectal cancer have increased considerably in the last few decades. The research suggests that early screening may benefit second- and third-degree relatives as well. First-degree relatives include siblings, children and parents while second-degree…

BioMedNewsBreaks – Vivos Therapeutics Inc.’s (NASDAQ: VVOS) Guides Demonstrate Significant Reduction of Pediatric Tooth Decay in Peer-Reviewed Study
Vivos Therapeutics (NASDAQ: VVOS), a medical technology company focused on developing and commercializing innovative treatments for patients suffering from sleep-disordered breathing, including mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea (“OSA”), today announced results from a peer-reviewed, published study by an independent dentist. The findings demonstrate a significant reduction of tooth decay in pediatric patients after undergoing treatment using the company’s FDA Class 1 registered Vivos Guide, a flexible, BPA-free base polymer intraoral device. A preformed positioner intended to prevent a child’s teeth from shifting and may seal the lips to convert mouth breathing to nose breathing, the Vivos Guide is worn according to specific protocols as children sleep for 8-10 hours each day. “Mouth breathing has long been associated with an increase in cavities. That treatment with our Guide appliances has now been shown to significantly decrease pediatric cavities is a strong indication that they also work to establish proper nasal breathing and function,” said Kirk Huntsman, Vivos chairman and CEO. “The late Dr. Christian Guilleminault of Stanford University once said, ‘The restoration of nasal breathing…may be the only valid endpoint to treating OSA.’ Clearly, any time a treatment such as our Guides can help restore and promote nasal breathing, other positive health benefits tend to happen, and these study results prove that out with respect to lowering the risk of tooth decay in children. With the global dental fillings market size valued larger than US$5 billion, we are pleased show published, peer-reviewed data demonstrating the efficacy of the Vivos Guides and significant benefits the Guides may have on pediatric dental health.”

Tryp Therapeutics (CSE: TRYP) (OTCQB: TRYPF) expects to soon launch a phase 2a clinical trial to determine the efficacy of its psychedelic drug candidate TRP-8802 in treating Prader-Willi Syndrome, hypothalamic obesity eating disorder resulting from removal of a brain tumor, and binge eating disorder. According to a recent article, TRP-8802 will be used in combination with psychotherapy under professional care to create the proper mindset for the neuroplasticity benefits of psilocybin to take full effect. Tryp then plans to proceed into phase 2b clinical trials with drug candidate TRP-8803 to test the trademarked product’s ability to penetrate the natural blood-brain barrier and effectively respond to pain and addiction concerns. Tryp’s efforts come as the Drug Enforcement Administration (“DEA”) recently “proposed a huge increase in the production of marijuana and psilocybin for research purposes with the hope of accelerating new federally approved therapeutic medication. Why Timely Data Analysis Is Vital in Health Care
We have seen a lot of businesses go digital in the last year. Researchers believe that artificial intelligence (“AI”) will be useful in various areas, including the health-care sector. Studies have shown that more than 50% of health-care facilities don’t have a strategy on how to carry out analytics and govern data. This is because the sector still lacks a structured database from which data can be read, interpreted and applied to treatments in the future. With the ongoing pandemic, new approaches to predictive analytics, data analysis and health care are needed more than ever.
Why is data analysis important for this particular sector?
Given that doctors are humans and therefore prone to human error, the probability of making a mistake will always exist. Mistakes in the field of health care not only increase…

Sobering Truth: Alcohol Behind More American Fatalities Compared to Drug Overdoses
In July, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released preliminary statistics which show that last year drug overdose deaths increased significantly, reaching 93,000. Avricore Health (TSX.V: AVCR) (OTCQB: AVCRF) was featured in the “Bell2Bell Podcast,” a part of IBN’s (“InvestorBrandNetwork”) sustained effort to provide specialized content distribution via widespread syndication channels. We place a system within the pharmacy where a blood test or a molecular test can be done. A simple sample is collected, and the whole test takes about 15 minutes,” Bremner said. “Our technology is a cloud-based solution that networks these high-quality analyzers from companies like Abbott and is able to then create a testing network in the pharmacy… The patient gets to keep their information, of course… but really, the objective here is to create a global network of pharmacies reporting back real-time information on patient data that can be used for study and research purposes, which is a very, very high demand out there in the sector.”

Mind Cure Health (CSE: MCUR) (OTCQX: MCURF), a leader in advanced proprietary technology and research for psychedelics, has so far reached several key milestones in 2021. According to a recent article, these include: “raising $23 million in a bought deal short form prospectus public offering that closed in February this year. On the technology side, MCURF launched the minimum viable product (‘MVP’) of iSTRYM in Q3 2021. How Technological Innovation May Transform Alzheimer’s Diagnosis
Each year, we celebrate World Alzheimer’s Day on September 21, hoping that every passing day brings us one step closer to a cure. Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive ailment that destroys an individual’s memory and other important mental functions. Researchers believe that the disease may be caused by an abnormal buildup of proteins around and in brain cells. In its late stage, the disease causes individuals to lose their ability to carry on conversations and respond to their environments.
With new cases of the disease developing every three seconds, it becomes even more important to diagnose and…

BioMedNewsBreaks – Brain Scientific Inc.’s (BRSF) Devices Addressing COVID, Research-Related Challenges in Neurological Market
Brain Scientific (OTCQB: BRSF), a commercial-stage medical device and software company focused on neurology, has solved issues related to offering neurological services during COVID. The new surge in the Delta variant highlights two problems in hospitals and the neurological market: staff shortages and contamination. “When it comes to neurological services during COVID, Brain Scientific has solved these issues with its two FDA-cleared EEG technologies — the NeuroCap and NeuroEEG. Easy to administer and disposable (the NeuroCap), these low-cost devices allow staff to provide EEGs at the patient’s bedside,” reads a recent article. Brain Scientific’s NeuroCap is disposable, and both devices take five minutes to set up rather than the 30 to 45 minutes it takes to fit a traditional EEG, thus reducing contamination risk. Researchers can also administer the devices because it is not necessary to have medical training to fit the cap. “Data can be collected for more extended periods as the device is portable and worn for up to four hours. The process is also much simpler for the test subject.”
