Dissolvable CBD Powder Unveiled at Natural Products Expo

March 3, 2020 09:00:18

This year’s Natural Products Expo West Show will be graced by a never seen before product. Dubbed Caliper CBD, it is a dissolvable CBD powder that comes in precise and consistently measured single-serve packets. It is better absorbed than oil-based CBD products, taking effect just minutes after consumption.

The product is backed by three hemp industry veterans, including Caliper Foods, an industry leader in soluble cannabinoid-infused consumer packaged goods and ingredients. It is made with non-GMO ingredients and is calorie-free, sugar-free, gluten-free, vegan, kosher, and keto compliant.

Each packet of Caliper CBD contains 20mg of dissolvable CBD, and it can be added to water, alcohol, and food.

Cannabidiol has become quite popular in the U.S., with 14% of Americans saying they’ve used a CBD product in the past for its therapeutic effects. Although there is little research to prove it, users claim the chemical offers relief against everything from anxiety and high blood pressure to chronic pain and insomnia.

The 2018 Farm Bill legalized the cultivation and sale of industrial hemp and its extracts, kick-starting, an industry that would be worth millions of dollars in sales in just a year. As the industry continues growing at an unprecedented pace, companies have been forced to find ways to stand out from the pack.

Caliper CBD is an excellent example of innovation in the nascent CBD sector. A significant issue that has plagued the industry has been CBD’s low bioavailability. This means only a small amount of the CBD ingested is absorbed, say 10%, leading to wastage, and consumers are forced to buy and ingest more CBD to get the desired effects.

This new product is said to be the first product to provide a consistently precise dose of CBD, with a study conducted at the University of Colorado finding that Caliper CBD is absorbed 450% more readily than standard CBD products.

“There’s so much confusion about CBD in the market right now. With Caliper CBD, there’s never a question about the quality or dose of what you’re getting. No other CBD product on the market offers the same consistency, not to mention the convenience of being able to just throw a packet in your bag and mix it into something as basic as a glass of water,” says Missy Bradley, Caliper Foods Brand Director and co-founder.

“We don’t think it’s our job to convince people to consume CBD. We just want to give people who already want CBD the most consistent, convenient, and bioavailable product on the market,” Bradley adds.

It is such innovation that could be the driving force behind the success of Caliper Foods and other industry actors like Champignon Brands Inc. (CSE: SHRM) who see the possibilities of how CBD can be taken as nearly endless.
