How CBD Can Boost Intermittent Fasting

Cannabidiol (CBD) has quickly climbed the ranks as one of the most potent and versatile natural medicines of the century. The 2018 Farm Bill was instrumental, declassifying industrial hemp as a controlled substance and giving farmers the green light to farm the lucrative crop.

The market for the hemp extract exploded afterward, with people flocking to get some of the compound’s medical benefits. There has also been interest in CBD’s ability to aid in fasting, especially intermittent fasting. It is currently one of the world’s most popular health and fitness trends, and studies have found it extremely beneficial to the body.

First off, what is intermittent fasting? It’s an eating pattern characterized by cycles of eating and fasting. There are no restrictions on what you can eat, just when. There are a few variations of intermittent fasting, but all of them consist of periods of eating and periods of fasting.

The most popular variations are the 16/8 method, the 18/6 method, and the Eat-Stop-Eat. For the first variation, you would skip breakfast, eat your first meal at noon and have dinner at eight in the evening, effectively fasting for 16 hours and restricting your diet to an 8-hour window.

The second one, the 18/6 method, will have you fasting for 18 hours with a 6-hour window to get the necessary nutrients. A lot of people prefer the 16/8 method as it just requires you to skip breakfast and avoid any late-night snacks. Then there’s the Eat-Stop-Eat, which requires a lot more grit and determination.

In this variation, you spend 24 hours without eating, only having calorie-free fluids like coffee and tea. Then the next day you get to eat as much as you want, and the cycle goes on and on. All these variations rely on the fact that the body starts burning fat after 16 hours with no sustenance. However, despite knowing this, sticking to such tough regimens can be extremely difficult.

So, how does CBD help in all this? As you know, CBD has tons of medical applications. When you use CBD during your fast, it will help regulate hormones by interacting with the body’s hormonal system. It will also help fight inflammation that’s often connected to strokes, heart disease, and autoimmune disorders.

And that’s not all. The hemp extract is known to reduce appetite, and it will help keep the hunger pangs down as you do your fasting.

Intermittent fasting is pretty beneficial to the body. It results in reduced blood sugar and insulin levels, as well as significantly increased levels of human growth hormone. Adding a dose of CBD will enhance these effects and make the fast a lot more effective and beneficial.

Industry watchers think that the unending ways in which CBD can be used may be a surprise to even cannabidiol companies like Hemptown USA and HTC Extraction Systems (TSX.V: HTC) since people keep pushing the envelope on how to benefit from the cannabinoid.
