The past few years have been a complete game-changer for cannabis. What was once considered as harmful as cocaine and heroin is now being praised for its medicinal properties, and the authorities are taking notice. A number of states have legalized the adult recreational use of marijuana, and in 2018, Congress passed the Farm Bill, legislation that legalized the cultivation and sale of industrial hemp and its extracts.
As people stopped looking at cannabis as a harmful drug and more as a therapeutic one capable of a number of medical benefits, an industry grew around it. Conscious that smoking isn’t the healthiest option, people have been putting cannabis in everything from pastries, foods, and beverages. Outbound Brewing, formerly called High Style, is one of the latest entrants into the cannabis-infused beverages scene.
The company recently released a line of non-alcoholic, non-infused beers as well as a line of CBD and THC infused non-alcoholic beers. THC (delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol) is the compound in marijuana that makes users ‘high.’ CBD or cannabidiol is also produced by the cannabis plant, although it doesn’t induce a psychoactive high. The chemical is said to be a potent natural medicine, and it’s been found effective against a plethora of ailments, ranging from anxiety and high blood pressure to chronic pain and insomnia.
The CBD-infused drinks made by this brewer contain 20mg of broad-spectrum hemp, and the THC infused drinks contain 10 mg of fast-acting, nano-emulsified THC, with 30 calories in each bottle. The brews will be available in Outbound’s flavor profiles of Pale Haze, Blood Orange Haze, and Grapefruit Haze. A 12-ounce bottle will go for a retail price of $5.99-$6.99.
“We work with a contract brewer who is one of the most reputable brewmasters in San Diego and has been in the brewing industry for years,” says Marty Reed, Outbound’s CEO. Outbound is the second company to provide cannabis-infused drinks in San Diego alongside Two Roots Brewing.
“At Outbound, our commitment to small-batch, artisan craft brewing, our dedication to our flavor profiles, and our unique, proprietary terpenes blend sets us apart from other similar products. We are also proud to be going the extra mile on our commitment to the environment and our community,” says Reed.
“It’s an honor to be at the forefront of this exciting new category. The way people drink is changing, and we’re excited to be part of forging a new path for adult beverages,” he adds.
One would be forgiven for thinking that even established CBD companies like SinglePoint Inc. (OTCQB: SING) are often surprised by the new ways in which CBD is being offered to consumers.
