Toni Braxton Confirms CBD Has Helped Her Live with Lupus

Lupus is an autoimmune disorder where the immune system turns on the body and attacks the tissues and organs. The resulting inflammation wreaks havoc on the entire body, and everything from the skin and lungs to the kidney, heart, and brain are affected. Although there’s currently no cure for the condition, there are a variety of medications that can be used to treat the symptoms.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a chemical extracted from hemp, and it’s taking the medical community by storm. Users say CBD is effective against a range of illnesses from anxiety and insomnia to chronic pain and high blood pressure, and although there’s little research to prove it, they swear by it.

A growing body of research has indicated that cannabidiol can help manage some of the symptoms of Lupus. Like most of the research into CBD, nothing is set in stone yet, but CBD is a known anti-inflammatory. Since most of the symptoms associated with lupus are caused by inflammation, cannabidiol could indeed offer some relief.

At the moment, most of the evidence is anecdotal, with a good number of the 240,000 people who suffer from Lupus in the USA saying they observed positive results. And Toni Braxton, one of the highest-selling female R&B artistes of all time, is one of the people who’ve benefited from CBD.

She first revealed that she was suffering from Lupus in 2010 after being diagnosed in 2008, and the condition has wreaked havoc on her health and her music career. Doctors advised her to put a stop to all her performances and avoid traveling. “Some days, having Lupus is like waking up with the flu,” she says.

“Every day my body aches, and I don’t always feel my best. But I have good days, so I take them and always try to be positive. I get up every morning and do what I have to do because I have kids and a family to keep healthy for.”

Things took a good turn when she ran into CBD on a particularly rough day. “I was really achy one day and I didn’t have my prescribed medication. I’m looking under my bathroom sink and I found a product I had been gifted called Uncle Bud’s. I put it on, and 20 minutes later, I was like, ‘Oh wow, I feel better.’”

She has since partnered with Uncle Bud’s, the company that allowed her to elevate her quality of life despite suffering from Lupus.

“Lupus is a part of who I am, but I’m not going to let it define my life. I’ve had to make changes, of course, but I still want to perform and do what I love. Healthy alterations to my lifestyle, including using safe, natural pain relief products like Uncle Bud’s, make this possible without debilitating side effects.”

Analysts believe it is such powerful personal testimonies that keep CBD companies like Inc. (OTCQB: CIIX) working day and night to develop new products that could help more suffering people.
