The global mining industry is at a critical juncture in its engagement with First Nations communities. Progress on economic participation and employment is being tempered by ongoing challenges around cultural heritage and land use. The destruction of Indigenous heritage sites in the western Pilbara in 2020 brought, through world headlines, the relationship between mining leaders and traditional landowners into sharp focus.
