MustGrow Biologics (CSE: MGRO) (OTCQB: MGROF) (FRA: 0C0) has announced initial test results of its mustard-derived organic biopesticide formulation designed to control Fusarium wilt TR4, a destructive pathogen threatening the global banana industry, which is valued at $25 billion. Completed via third-party independent laboratory CyberAgrot SAS in Colombia, the testing reported 100% control Fusarium wilt TR4, known as Panama disease. The disease led to the declaration of a national state of emergency in Colombia in 2019. Based on what the company has been able to determine, complete control of this disease has never been achieved. The company is now planning more advanced testing of the product in greenhouse and field settings, which could lead to registration and use in Colombia and other countries that produce bananas. Following ICA official protocols, samples treated with MustGrow’s natural organic biopesticide showed 100% control of Fusarium wilt TR4 while control samples the didn’t use the biopesticide showed Fusarium wilt TR4 growing. “The CyberAgrot team is very pleased with the recent laboratory results of MustGrow’s mustard-derived product,” said CyberAgrot general manager Alexander Chajin Robles in the press release. “This work further advances MustGrow towards our shared goal of combating the Panama Disease, which has devastated the Banana Industry in Colombia and across the globe. Eliminating the disease is a national priority for the Colombian government, with the disease now affecting acres in many regions of Colombia. MustGrow’s product achieved 100% control of Fusarium wilt TR4 and we very much look forward to now begin field trials. With further success, we will advance conversations with the Colombian Agriculture regulatory body as well as the Colombian Banana Association, accelerating MustGrow’s product as the only 100% organic solution to a growing crisis.”
