Combining CBD Oil With Olive Oil Could Boost its Effectiveness

Cannabidiol (CBD) has been having a fantastic run for the past couple of years. The cannabis extract, although quite divisive, has taken the medical, sports, health, and wellness communities by storm. Over the years, CBD has been found effective against a variety of diseases ranging from high blood pressure to chronic pain. The FDA approved a CBD based drug to help manage the symptoms of rare forms of epilepsy like Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome in children. According to early research, there may be a way to make CBD even more effective.

Cannabidiol is sold in a variety of forms, from edibles and seltzers to topicals and soap. Emily Kyle, a holistic cannabis practitioner, and registered dietician, says that consuming CBD with a fat, such as olive oil, can help it work better. “CBD, like all cannabinoids, is lipophilic, meaning they love fat,” she says. “They are most easily and readily absorbed when paired with a fat such as olive oil.” She adds that it is important to pair CBD with an overall healthy diet to ensure the best outcomes, and that “olive oil is an excellent heart-healthy option to pair CBD with.”

CBD company KB Pure Essentials sells olive oil and CBD products, including shampoos, body lotions, tinctures, and a lot more. Their products are made from a CBD-olive oil blend, not only for the increased health benefits this blend offers, but also to improve the taste and aroma of the products. Brooke Brun, the co-founder of KB Pure Essentials, says that since CBD is fat-soluble, they chose a fatty oil to blend with CBD.

“It also helps with the taste,” he says. “Alcohol or MCT oil supplement oils tend to have a really bad taste. High-quality olive oil on its own has many benefits to the brain and physical health, so we felt it complemented the benefits of the CBD.” He added that KB Pure Essentials has a trained chemist on staff to ensure the ingredients in their products do not interact negatively.

“The CBD concentrate won’t just simply mix with the olive oil. It needs to be heated, but not too hot, and homogenized into the olive oil to make sure you are getting a consistent dose of CBD each time you take it. If you don’t do that, the pure concentrate is like a sap that will just sink to the bottom of the bottle of olive oil.”

Seniors and athletes usually use KB Pure products for pain management, and Brun recommends that folk interested in trying CBD and olive oil combinations seek topical salves first.  “About 80% of our clients are trying to manage their pain and/or get off opioids they have been taking for years.”

The seemingly endless ways in which CBD can be used or paired with other substances in order to make it more effective could even be coming as a surprise to cannabis companies like Earth Science Tech Inc. (OTCQB: ETST) and LiveWire Ergogenics Inc. (OTC: LVVV) that have been in the game for a while.
