MiningNewsBreaks – Resourcing Tomorrow Announces Inaugural Roundtable, Reception to Focus on Critical Mineral Strategies

October 30, 2023 11:10:48

Resourcing Tomorrow, Europe’s largest mining event, has announced plans to hold its first Critical Minerals Ministerial Roundtable and Reception next month, in conjunction with the Critical Minerals Association and hosted by the UK All-Party Parliamentary Groups (“APPG”). According to the announcement, representatives from numerous countries will be attending, including Australia, Armenia, Canada, Chad, Nigeria, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Czech Republic, Portugal, the United Kingdom and the United States. The Resourcing Tomorrow event is slated for Nov. 28–30, 2023, with the roundtable and reception scheduled on Nov. 27, one day before the main event kicks off. According to the announcement, the world is at a key juncture as countries work to transition to greener energy with each resource-rich country facing unique pressure to attract lasting, meaningful investment into the development of their respective critical mineral resources.

A robust critical minerals policy is essential to creating a stable landscape for investors as well as benefitting the local population and country as a whole. “The U.S. Inflation Reduction Act is game changer, providing $783 billion of investment, much of it will flow into investments into not just U.S. -based mining projects but mining projects with countries aligned with Western thinking,” said Resourcing Tomorrow divisional director Andrew Thake in the press release. “At least 40% of critical minerals in U.S.-made EV batteries must come U.S. miners or recycling plants, or mines in countries with free trade deals with the U.S.”
