Although the cannabis industry is gradually gaining social acceptability, many mainstream social media channels, such as Facebook, YouTube and Instagram, are still wary about promoting marijuana, according to a Digiday report. Cannabis ads are prohibited on a number of social media networks, including Facebook, Instagram, Google and Snapchat, although the latter does allow ads for cannabidiol-based products on a case-by-case basis, the report says.
